The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It has been Western North Carolina’s Premier Family Festival for over 70 years. From August 30, 2019 through September 2, 2019 you can enjoy 4 days of fun including one of the most best known Street Fairs in the Carolinas with freshly picked apples, arts & crafts, festival food, and free entertainment at the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s beautiful Main Street.

Festival-goers can choose from a variety of events which feature a street fair on Main Street and surrounding event venues with continuous free entertainment, arts and crafts, local apple growers selling apple products, children’s activities and rides, special shows, exhibits, open houses, and to top it all off, a parade.

The festival’s Street Fair covers eight blocks of Main Street with more than 200 vendors.

Monday ushers out the fest with the King Apple Parade filled with floats, bands, clowns, antique cars, fire engines and more, traveling down Main Street from Five Points to Caswell Street.

North Carolina is the seventh-largest apple-producing state in the nation and Henderson County is the largest apple-producing county in North Carolina, producing 85% of all the apples grown in the state.The county grows more than 40 varieties of apples, including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, Stayman, Fuji and Galas.

Fresh apples, cider, pumpkins, produce and many other items may be purchased at one of the many roadside apple markets located throughout Henderson County. Some orchards have fun fall activities, baked goods, cider, and also allow you to pick your own apples.
