Having lived in Western NC for over 25 years, I can honestly say that I have never seen a fall that wasn't beautiful.  In some years, a hotter and drier fall may cause the leaves to drop over a faster period, but they are still beautiful.

One of the best locations for views and photo opps is the Blue Ridge Parkway. This also includes much of Pisgah National Forest near Brevard.
