The costumes evoke the lifestyle of the era, when voyages on great ocean liners of the early 20th century offered luxury on ships known as “floating palaces.” First class passengers took every opportunity to see and be seen in the fashions of the time, including strolling the promenade deck and dining at elegant formal dinners.
Did you know George & Edith booked Titanic Cabins?
After spending the fall and winter of 1911 in Paris, the Vanderbilts decided to return home on the maiden voyage of the "unsinkable" Titanic. But George and Edith instead decided to sail on Titanic's sister ship Olympic a week earlier (departing April 3rd) when they learned friends and family would be on that ship. Since their plans changed at the last minute, their servants did not have time to pack six months worth of family belongings. So Footman Edwin Wheeler sailed with their remaining luggage on the Titanic a week later. He was one of the 1,516 people to perish.
The weather has been varying lately from freezing temperatures to 62 degrees...all i the same week! It can be unpredictable this time of year but there are plenty of ways to stay entertained!
